What you need

Lyris plays music from a server you run or have access to. It does not include or sell any music. Supported servers:

Lyris requires iOS 18 or later.

Frequently asked questions

Lyris cannot connect to my server

Check that the address opens in Safari on the same iPhone. If you type an address without http:// or https://, Lyris tries HTTPS first: if your server only speaks HTTP (common on a home network, e.g. 192.168.1.10:4533), type http:// explicitly. For a server on your home network, allow Lyris to access the local network when iOS asks (Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network). Over Tailscale or another VPN, make sure the VPN is connected.

My server uses a self-signed certificate

Lyris always lets iOS validate certificates. Install your certificate authority on the iPhone (open the certificate file, then Settings › General › VPN & Device Management to install the profile), then enable full trust in Settings › General › About › Certificate Trust Settings. Everything then works, including playback and downloads. A certificate from a public authority such as Let’s Encrypt needs no setup.

My server sits behind Cloudflare Access or another proxy

Add the headers your proxy expects in Lyris, under Custom HTTP headers for your music server (and for Lidarr if needed). They are stored in the iOS Keychain and sent only to that server.

How do I save mobile data?

In Settings › Data, turn on transcoding and choose MP3, AAC or Opus and a bitrate, separately for Wi‑Fi and cellular. Downloads can also be transcoded. Files your iPhone cannot play natively (such as APE) are converted to FLAC automatically.

Where are Popular Tracks and scrobbling?

They use ListenBrainz and need your own free ListenBrainz token: create an account on listenbrainz.org, copy your token from your settings there, and add it in Lyris’s Settings.

What is the Lidarr integration?

It is optional. If you run Lidarr, connect it in Settings to send requests to your own Lidarr server from artist pages and Discover. Lidarr features stay hidden until it is set up.

An album is missing or still shows after I removed it

Lyris syncs with your server automatically. Pull down on the Library screen to sync now. Albums removed from the server disappear after a complete sync, unless you downloaded them.

Privacy

Lyris has no analytics, no ads and no backend. Read the Privacy Policy.
